UK; Funded Engineering Doctorate (EngD): Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer in Compact Thermal Devices
Written by LOWONGAN KERJA TERBARU on 09:43Industry Sponsor: THERMACORE Europe
Scholarship circa £19,200
Closing Date: 26 September 2008
Our prestigious 4 year Engineering Doctorate (EngD) programme in Environmental Technology is sponsored by the EPSRC. The programme offers environmentally focussed research, in an industrial setting, along with personal and professional development to research engineers whilst they study towards their Doctorate.
Research Project: Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer in Compact Thermal Devices
This is a very challenging research area and is receiving an increased interest from the national and international scientific and industrial community. The modelling of single/two-phase flow, heat transfer and pressure drop is vital to improve design and simulation of compact and ultra-compact heat exchangers, which play an increasingly crucial role in energy conservation and protection of the environment.
The successful applicant will join an established research group currently working on thermofluid aspects of heat exchangers, where s/he will receive immediate support in experimental and analytical aspects of single/two-phase flow heat transfer research. S/he will also get the chance to use state-of-the-art commercial software for the design and simulation of heat transfer equipment. The successful applicant would be intimately involved in the on-going development programme of the industrial sponsor and, thus, would also gain valuable experience of working in the industrial research and product development environment.
Entry Requirements:
Applicants should have a good honours degree (first, upper second, or lower second class with MSc or equivalent) in Mechanical or Chemical engineering or related engineering area and science such as Physics. It is desirable that candidates should have a basic knowledge of thermofluid transport processes.
