USA; Postdoctoral Position - Neuroscience

A Postdoctoral training position is available to study neuronal repair and axonal growth in the central nervous system (CNS) at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. We are particularly interested in studying the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neuronal regeneration, axon growth, cell death, the CNS injuries and neurodegenerative disorders (for details see J Neurosci 27: 4154; Nature 417:547-51, 2002; J Neurosci 23: 4219-27, 2003; Neuron 38: 187-99, 2003; J Neurosci 24: 10511-20, 2004; J Neurosci 20:1190-8, 2000).

The highly motivated individuals with strong background in molecular and cellular biology, neuroscience and biochemistry are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have a Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent in molecular biology, neuroscience or biochemistry.

USA; Postdoctoral Fellowship in Microbiology and Immunology

The Division of Clinical and Experimental Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the University of Texas Medical Branch is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to study the pathways linking chronic inflammation and carcinogenesis.  The candidate will conduct research including Helicobater pylori as a model to study these pathways.  Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field.  Experience in immunological assays, flow cytometry, and Real Time PCR is a plus.  The candidate must have independence, innovation, communication skills, and prior publications.  Please send CVs to Dr. Ellen Beswick at ejbeswic@utmb.edu.

Open Positions at the Research & Teaching Assistant Level/PhD fellowships

The Institute of International Marketing and Management (IMM) at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration (Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien) is seeking to fill two Research and Teaching Assistant positions, with emphasis on international and cross-cultural management. The successful candidates are supposed to pursue their doctorate as well as support the IMM faculty in research, teaching and administrative work.

Requirements: Candidates must possess a university degree in business administration, psychology or related disciplines; be fluent in English; and have the potential to conduct top quality research. Individuals with an interest in international and cross-cultural management research (cross-border alliances, mergers & acquisitions; leading across cultures; global mindset; etc.) are particularly encouraged to apply. Proficiency in quantitative methods would be a plus.

A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Section of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago. The postdoctoral Fellow/Scholar will study the function and regulatory pathways of microRNAs and target genes in self-renewal and differentiation of stem cells and in hematopoiesis. The candidate may also have an opportunity to conduct research in the field of leukemia stem cell and/or reprogramming.

This position is available for the candidate who has a strong background on stem cell research. The candidate should have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree(s), and be a highly motivated individual with the ability to work in a team environment and with good oral and written communication skills in English.

The joint laboratory of Drs. Jianjun Chen and Janet D. Rowley is well-funded and currently fast expanding. Postdoctoral Position in Image Processing / Computational Neuroscience

The Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Complex Systems and
Department of Physics at Northeastern University, Boston, MA, invite
applicants for a postdoctoral position in Image Processing /
Computational Neuroscience to begin in the spring of 2009. Successful
candidate will work on an NIH sponsored project to develop algorithms
for automated reconstruction of neurons from confocal microscopy
images. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in mathematics, physics,
electrical engineering, computer science or a related quantitative
discipline. Proven record of experience in image processing and strong
computational and programming skills are required. Knowledge of
computer vision and machine learning is preferred. Competitive salary
will be based on qualifications. The initial appointment is for one
year with the possibility of renewal on yearly bases. Applicants
